Spinning with Bamboo

Service Description

In this 1 week make-and-take class, participants will learn plant-based fiber preparation, drafting and spinning basics, as well as other technique variations that separate it from fibers like wool. Participants will be working with bamboo, although various types of plant fiber will be shown and discussed in depth. As available, smaller samples may be given out to try additional fibers to compare to. Participants need to know how to spin on their spinning apparatus (spindle, wheel, etc.) If participants do not know how to spin and are still interested in taking the class, please reach out to Our Yarn Studio to arrange a one-on-one or beginner lesson so we can get you started spinning bamboo more effectively. Participants will be provided with: 1 oz of bamboo fiber Bring your own: Spindle or spinning wheel
